FAQs
As a NewLaw business or an Alternative Legal Services Provider (ALSP) we operate differently from a traditional law firm or recruitment agency. We are committed to reshaping the legal industry through innovation, agility and smarter ways of working for our consultant lawyers and clients.
We provide flexible, client-centric legal solutions that are designed to solve real business challenges. Our purpose is to deliver high-quality, cost-effective outcomes for clients while creating a distinctive, rewarding professional environment for legal consultants.
By joining KorumLegal, you become part of a community of motivated, like-minded legal professionals who value collaboration, innovation and growth. KorumLegal consultants want to take charge of their own careers and the work they do. Our consultants are supported through a wide-ranging program that allows for professional and personal growth and development with flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.
We typically seek legal professionals who demonstrate a strong combination of legal expertise and a pragmatic, commercial mindset. The profiles we value most often include qualified lawyers who have practised in both law firm and in‑house environments, and who bring hands‑on experience in areas such as commercial advisory, contract management, and litigation or regulatory support. Ideal candidates usually have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a multinational organisation, where they have been exposed to complex operating environments and have collaborated closely with cross‑functional stakeholders across legal, business, and operational teams. Beyond technical capability, we place significant emphasis on individuals who can readily “plug and play” across different industries, adapt quickly to new subject matter, and flex their approach to meet varying client needs and project requirements while delivering high‑quality, outcomes‑driven support for in-house clients.
KorumLegal’s recruitment process follows a clear structure, prioritizing assignments and roles that fit your expertise and preferences:
Stage 1 – Interviews:
You’ll have two formal interviews with KorumLegal HQ – the first with the talent team and one second with the commercial business team.
Stage 2 – Onboarding:
If you are invited to join our bench of lawyers, we’ll conduct complete reference and key document checks to verify your credentials and ensure compliance. Once onboarding is complete, you’ll officially join our consultant Bench, where you can connect with peers, access resources, and be part of our community while waiting for your first engagement to commence.
Stage 3 – Engagement:
After onboarding, you’ll join our consultant bench, during which our team will start to contact you and keep you updated on potential client opportunities and engagements that suit your profile. If your skills are the right match, the role will be discussed with you and shared with the client before you are invited to meet the client.
Stage 4 – Client Assignment:
If selected, we’ll finalise your Consultant T&Cs, Notice of Assignment and any required client documentation. From there, you’ll work with the client on a daily basis, supported by the KorumLegal team.
Remember that you will be engaged by Korum, not the client. Assignments may be extended but once concluded, you’ll return to the consultant bench while we source your next role.
This depends on your skillset and openness to various engagements presented to you as outlined above. However, most of our lawyers transition seamlessly from one engagement to the next with very little to no down time between engagements. Obviously, consultants can choose to take time out between engagements, and this is often discussed in advance with you before the end of each engagement. At a maximum, lawyers on the bench would be reviewed each quarter to ensure their suitability for KorumLegal, types of engagements and the bench.
We offer a wide range of assignments, including full-time or part-time, remote or onsite opportunities. Engagements can vary in duration, lasting anywhere from 2 months to a year or more, depending on client needs and your interest.
KorumLegal has a diverse client base, including start-ups, SMEs, MNCs, financial institutions and professional services firms spanning a range of industries and practice areas. As a consultant, you’ll be an extension of our clients’ team providing a high quality, accessible and cost-effective legal solution for their in-house legal team.
As a freelance legal consultant, we’re pleased to support you in taking on multiple projects, provided they align with your pre-agreed working days and volume. However, it’s crucial that you fully commit to the assignments you accept. This commitment will help maintain professionalism and ensure we meet our clients' expectations.
